3. Don't forget, On Thursday 7/20, BG and Jon are attending the NJ Jackals Minor League Baseball game at Yogi Berra
Stadium (Montclair State University). We are inviting any interested Dolphin Families and friends to join us for a day at
the ballpark. This is not a Montclair YMCA sponsored event as there will be no chaperones provided nor supervision by
the swim team or coaching staff and therefore is not a "drop off" event. It is simply an opportunity for swimmers and their
familes to get together in a social venue outside of the pool. If you choose to attend, parents please plan to stay and supervise
your child and enjoy the game. If it rains, we are moving the date to the following day, Friday 7/21.
4. Monday 7/24 and Wednesday 7/26 7:00 PM YMCA practices will be devoted to relay exchange and starts for the National
Team. All YMCA National Team Members should be there.
5. There will be YMCA Practice on Sunday 23rd at 7:00 PM for all groups.
6. Our last general practice of the season will be Thursday 7/27. Any swimmer can keep attending through that date regardless
of any meets left to swim. Practice on Friday 7/28 is for The National Team only and JO athletes who are not attending
Friday. We will announce the Zone Team practice schedule by the Friday of JO's.
7. Take a look at the website swimwithapurpose.com to see the current issue of the quarterly magazine by and for New Jersey swimmers. The current issue
focuses mainly on New Jersey coaches. The editor is looking for writers and welcomes suggestions from swimmers.

2. A. NOTE PRACTICE GROUP TRAINING SCEHDULE CHANGES: Starting Monday July 3rd. The practice
that runs 12:00-1:30 Monday through Thursday at the YMCA will change to 9:45-11:00 am. With all the confusion of being in
at the same time as the YMCA Day camps we feel it would be better to go with an earlier time slot. The groups are the same
- just the time slot has changed.
B. Minor Change for the July 4th practice at the Beach Club - All athletes will need to be
picked up and out of the building by 8:00 so all practices will begin 15 minutes earlier of your start time on that day.
C. There will be no Practices in the YMCA facility on July 4th.
3. Note - we did not put up a weekend practice schedule for weekends as they will change every
weekend. This weekend's practice schedule is as follows:
Saturday - Seniors and YMCA National Candidates (see BG if you are not sure) 8:30 - 10:00 at the Y
Sunday - 6:50-8:30pm at the Y - All Groups!
4. Beach Club practices will run in the rain as long as it is not an electrical storm. You
won't get any wetter if you swim in the rain and the water always feels warm. We wish to thank the brave souls who weathered
the storm this morning to get in a workout. It was an adventure. Kathie Ang, Jacqui Eckrote, Paul Gurniak, Emily Gurniak,
Liam Tully, PJ Tully, Emma Randall, Lucy Randall, Katie O'Leary, Allie Stein, Courtney Campbell, Dan Fletcher, Taylor Mauro,
Codi Haigney, Sara Notte, Ian Quinn, Mac Quinn, Leah O'Bierne, Tommy Collins, Nell Connors, and a huge Thank You To Kevin,
our morning Lifeguard
5. Remember, as outlined in the team handbook, All athletes 10/U will try-out for the
team in the fall. Those athletes who are 11 and Older who have not fully participated with the team for the spring and summer
will have to try-out in the fall. We are re-formulating practice groups for the Fall so athletes with similar training habits
swim with the same.
6. SVY Meet entry has been posted - we have signed several athletes up for this meet who did
not request it, but we felt it is an important meet for their future. Please check entry on meet page.
7. YMCA LC National Meeting will take place at the Beach Club on 7/5 immediately after practice. Individuals who plan
on making cuts or have already made them NEED to be at this informational meeting. Swimmers only - parents need not attend.
Note - Later in the summer, there will be Mandatory night practices for relay exchanges and starts for all athletes going
to nationals.
8. For athletes seeking YMCA national cuts - there is a possibility of a SCM Meet on 7/15. Please keep that date
open.
9. We are working on specifics for our second annual Tomahawk Lake Waterpark venture on 7/9 and our second annual minor
league baseball game on 7/20. Keep your eyes open for flyers and web postings.
News 6/21
1. The Sizzle warm-up and timing information has been fixed.
2. Reminder - we begin the summer schedule on Monday 6/26
3. There are no practices this Friday, 6/23, Saturday, 6/24 or Sunday, 6/25 due to Summer Sizzle
4. If you are late to your check in this weekend at Sizzle, you will be scratched from that day. You need to leave time
to arrive early - there is construction on Rte. 18 and on the "Cars Only" lane of the Turnpike down by the New Brunswick exit.
5. Reminder - COACHES, SWIMMERS AND MEET VOLUNTEERS ONLY ON THE POOL DECK. They have changed the way the stanctions are
from last year's long course season to allow the athletes easier access to the pool deck - this is not an invite. This is so
kids don't miss races. NJ Swimming will return to a closed pool sides if we do not respect this.

News 5/1
Team E-Mail Send 5/1/6
Hi Dolphins,
Welcome to Spring 2006 season. All communications this Spring and Summer will be through the web-site and
team e-mail, especially for those of you who will swim outdoors. If you got this e-mail and would like to be taken
off the list, or did not get this posting and would like to be on the list - please e-mail Jon at JPSIEGELNJ@aol.com with your name and if you want to be added or deleted.
1. Final brunch reminder, final counts to the Mayfair Farms are due within the
next several days. It is critical that if you plan to attend the brunch that you notify Lynda Frantz as quickly
as possible via E-mail at baf743@comcast.net and place your completed reservation form in the FRANTZ folder. All reservations as received are
being reconfirmed via E-mail. If you are concerned that your reservation has not been received please call 973-744-5644.
Also, a special thank you to those families that have offered to make donations towards the tricky tray. Would
like to receive all donations by Wednesday May 3.
2. This Sunday 5/7, due to the team brunch, we will not be able to run the 12:00 Noon or
the 1:00 PM practices - The clinics will run as scheduled and also regularly scheduled night practice.
3. Spring Stroke Clinic - Little Dolphins (2:00 PM) and Stroke of Genius (2:45 PM) has
begun for the spring. See front desk to sign up and begin this Sunday. The fee for the spring is $125 for clinic participants.
The stroke clinic party had to be postponed. We will let you know about a new date ASAP.
4. Spring practices have started - in fact we are only 10 weeks from the Long Course Championship
season. If you plan on swimming at YMCA Nationals, JO's, Silvers or Bronze, you need to be back in the pool ASAP. As you know
it takes months to get into great swimming shape and only weeks to fall out of shape. The NJ Long Course season is an extremely
short period of time compared to the short course season and if you are looking forward to excelling this summer you need
to start training now.
5. A Long course meet schedule has been posted (see web-site) and three of them have already
past their entry deadlines. Please make sure you are staying on top of the web-site during the spring and summer because our
turnaround times are short, sometimes 3-4 days. We have a team goal to not be shut out of meets and can not dawdle on entry
turnarounds. We need the team's full cooperation in this. Continue to send meet entry info and requests to Jon at jpsiegelnj@aol.com and BG at b.greene@montclairymca.org
6. The front desk has asked us to ensure that all swimmers bring their membership
cards and that all swimmers memberships are current. This is a safety issue - we are a YMCA and the member service
staff does their best to make sure that everyone in the building belongs in the building. Let's do our best to make sure the
Swim Team is a role model for the Y.
7. Reminder that the Spring and Summer is an evaluation period for the Fall try-out. Individuals
who's attendance is below the expected standard (see handbook) will need to re-try-out in September.
Thank You! Hopefully we will see you at the brunch!

See Reservation form linked below today's news.
To all regular team members (i.e Intro, Novice, Prep, Silver, Gold,
Junior, Pre-Senior, Senior and National), please plan to attend the Annual Montclair YMCA Swim Team Awards Brunch. This year's
event will be held at a great new location, The Mayfair Farms in West Orange. Last year with over 325 people in attendance
the goal is to make this year’s brunch the best ever! Attached below is the reservation form with the deadline
for submitting your reservation as April 29th. As one of our most important events of the swim season we plan to continue
our tricky tray tradition at the brunch so that we can raise as many funds as possible to support our on going team activities.
Any family willing to make a donation of a gift basket, gift cards (Starbucks, Blockbuster Video, Sporting Goods Stores,
Restaurants, Apple Store, etc.) or small cash donations towards the creation of gift baskets would be greatly appreciated.
All cash donations should be made payable to the Montclair YMCA Swim Team. Please sent your contributions to Lynda
Frantz. Home phone number 973-744-5644, E-mail address baf743@comcast.net. Thanks in advance for your continued support and generosity. Hope to see you on May 7th
as we celebrate the accomplishments of this very talented team!
6. Thank you! I just wanted to tell you once again how much we all appreciated your help during the State Championship meet a weekend
ago. I heard nothing but praise from coaches about the performance of the officials, both on Sunday evening and again
this past weekend at JOs.
The State Championship Meet is a challenging undertaking, but it is so much easier when everyone does his
or her job well, and you certainly did that.
I hope you enjoyed the experience and picked up some things about meet officiating and meet management to
take back to your YMCA.
Thanks again! Ed Miller YMCA State Championship Referee

1. As posted in the meet information - there is a spectator limit
of 1 per athlete in the Y STATE MEET. We will have envelopes available Wednesday and Thursday for pick up at practice. In
those envelopes will be tickets for spectators and wristbands for the athletes.
All athletes are required to wear a wristband in order to enter the building and to swim their events. Green Bands are
for 12/U Swimmers and Yellow Bands for 13/O Swimmers sessions.
Spectators will not be granted admission without a ticket for that session. (each athlete gets one per session) If you
will not be using your tickets, please return them to JON ASAP! so we can redistribute them to those who need them (ex. relay
only swimmers)
Final Sessions are open - anyone can attend.
2. All swimmers 13/O should be ready to swim at night in individual
and relay competitions. Top 18 are required to attend the finals sessions in the 200's and longer and in the relays.
Top 26 are required to attend the finals sessions in the 50's and 100's. You must check in with BG before leaving the AM sessions.
It is your responsibility to check your placing after each race so you know if you made it back. This is our state championship
meet - we will not be scratching at night.
3. It is crucial that you are early for warm up at states so you
are ready to get in at the posted start time. It is a busy meet and we need to secure space and get in on time to take full
advantage of our warm-up time. Also we need to have check in done by the time warmups start.

2. Charlotte YW Hotel Note:
On Friday the 3rd, I contacted the Hotel representative to inquire as to why I am still waiting for the promised confirmation
numbers for the initial list of approximately 30 families that was previously e-mailed with reservation information.
She apologized for being behind schedule and informed me that I would have the numbers to distribute to those parents
in the next day or so. Upon receipt I will forward the confirmation numbers to each individual e-mail address as promised.
However, she also informed me that four families had called the 800 number directly and reserved two bedroom suites.
These calls were made after I forwarded the intial list and the posting of the notice that there were only 4 two
beroom suites available. This was an error by the hotel and Jackie Berkowitz will be contacting each of those four families
directly to inform them of this error. There remain one or two, two bedroom suites, available for Friday - Sunday,
only, but not for Wednesday or Thursday., Thank you, Lee Levine

News 11/2
First Frost Meet has been posted - We would like all 9/U Swimmers to attend - this meet is for both team and clinic swimmers.
News 11/1
1. Reminder, the 1000 free for the Great Turkey Meet is Friday night.
2. Some of the senior athletes called for a senior meeting tomorrow - we will run this during dry-land time. Please be
there or talk to kids who were there.
3. Attendance for certain athletes has been very poor - while most athletes are doing a great job, a few are off the
mark, so it needs to be mentioned.. Remember in the team handbook, there are practice attendance requirements. For those swimmers
not fulfilling their end in this area, you may be moved down a training group sooner rather then later and/or be asked to
re-try out for the team.
4. Information about the First Annual Alumni Meet has been posted below today's news. This meet will take place as part
of the Coed Team Invitational. We would like all HS aged swimmers to come and swim or volunteer for the day. Talk to Jon about
it - it should be a great day.
5. We DO have am practice for Seniors on the day of a dual meet unless otherwise posted.
6. We have no team practices this weekend because of the Great Turkey Invitational. We will have Lil Dolphins and Stroke
of Genius on Sunday.
7. Information for the last few official clinics has been linked below today's news.
8. The Red/Black Meet, the first three dual meets and the SHY Halloween meet were all a great success. The coaching staff
is very excited to see what's ahead in the coming months.
9. Please make sure you have your health forms and goal sheets in ASAP if you did not already.
10. The Great Turkey entry is linked below today's news - please check it out.

1. There are dual meets this weekend for Girls A, Boys A and Boys B - You are automatically entered into these meets
unless you e-mail jpsiegelnj@aol.com and b.greene@montclairymca.org as well as your team manager. For this week get to us ASAP if you can not attend, but normally it will have to be the Wednesday
before the meet.
2. Dual Meet Teams have been posted to the dual meet page - click here
3. If you were not at the parent meeting - please get your checks in for meet fees to Chris Jung's family file and for
concessions to Robin Gurniak as soon as possible.
4. Make sure all athletes are bringing their YMCA membership cards to get in the building.
5. Note - the Girls A schedule has been changed - please check
6. Please be considerate of others when parking in the deck next to the YMCA. Realize that waiting for you child in illegal
or obstructive areas can not only cause congestion, but it creates an unsafe environment for kids entering and leaving the
buliding.

1. The warm-up for the 11/12 and Open Session for the SHY Halloween meet has been changed to 12:00 Noon.

News 10/25
1. Dual meet teams will be distributed at the Parent meeting on Wednesday 10/26. We apologize if we misled parents and
swimmers, but as is MYM tradition, you will get team assignments along with pertinant team information on Wednesday.
2. Also at the parents meeting - the last batch of team towels will be distributed for last year's swimmers. If you did
not pick yours up last season and do not pick it up at the parent meeting, the remaining items will go on sale to new team
members.
3. REMINDER: The Parent Meeting (for all groups except Little Dolphins and Stroke of Genius) will take place on Wednesday,
10/26 in the Gymnasium from 7:15 - 8:30ish PM. Please remember to bring check books as we will be collecting meet account
fees -see amounts below:
$50 For Little Dolphins and Stroke Of Genius Clinics
$75.00 per Intro, Novice, Silver and Gold
$100.00 per Prep and Junior
$125.00 per Pre-senior and Senior
All meet fee checks should be made out to "Swimming Parents" - If you can fill them out ahead of time, it
would be a huge help.
We will also be collecting concession fees at $10 per swimmer or $20 per family
The MYPO (Montclair YMCA Parents Organization) will also be selling some team merchandise.
The parents meeting is one of the two annual meeting we hold to inform people about the role of the Parents
Organization and the Coaching staff's seasonal plans. it is important that each swimmer is represented.
Rosters, team placments and volunteer scheduling will be distributed at the meeting.
4. There will be no practice on Halloween (10/31) for the 3:45 groups. All other groups will have regular swim practice.
5. We will be running Senior practice only on Saturday 10/29. We have dual meets in the afternoon so we can not hold
those practices. This being said, now that the dual meet schedule has started, quite often home meets will interefere with
regular Saturday practices and we may forget to post them weekly. Please be aware of all dual meet team schedules and how
they may effect your training schedule and please plan ahead so you are not relying on a Saturday practice that can not occur.
6. We will run regular Sunday practices on 10/30 in addition to the Halloween meet at at SHY.
7. Congrads to Charlotte Richman for being recognized as a USA Swimming Scholastic All American.
8. Obviously at this point, the team, suit order has been processed. If you did not get one and will be participating
in meets, any racing suit will suffice, although we prefer a black suit for MYM competition.
9. Everyone will be getting a team roster this week - either at or after the general parents meeting. If any information
is incorrect on this, please e-mail jpsiegelnj@aol.com as soon as you realize.
10. For those who missed the Stroke Clinic (Little Dolphin and Stroke of Genius) Parent Meeting, the following was discussed:
Please note we added a clinic page to the website - please check this periodically for important information that is specific to Stroke Clinic Participants.
a. Team Fees of $185 should have been paid already to front desk - attention Faith Mazur
b. a check for $50 to be made to "Swimming Parents" and left in the family file marked Jung - unused monies will be carried
over to the next season or refunded on request
c. a check for $10 per swimmer or $20 per family should be made out to "Montclair YMCA Swim Team" and left in the family

get one, please e-mail jpsiegelnj@aol.com
e. All clinic only swimmers have been assigned a dual meet team - please be aware of this. These meets are optional but
highly reccommended. You will be automatically entered in the dual and tri meets unless you let us know by the wednesday before
the meet that you can not attend.
f. all clinic swimmers will recieve a Montclair YMCA cap - which will be distributed through the family files as soon
as they come in.

1. We have posted group placements for the entire Dolphins team on the try-out page of the website. Please note that we have changed some returning swimmer's group placements who were previously posted. Also

News 8/28
1. All technologies with the exception of the phone have been down at the Y for almost two weeks as we got hit with what
has turned out to be a pretty bad virus - all e-mail and internet has been down so if you need BG call extension 109 at the
Y - I imagine there many e-mails waiting or that have been kicked back - please resend or call.
2. We have sent letters out to all swimmers who were on the team last year - if you did not get one, call us at the Y.
3. As highlighted in the year end news in May - in order to control numbers we have asked many swimmers to come to try-out
again this fall for placement
4. Many swimmers (age 11/O) who did swim with us in the spring and summer were deemed exempt from tryout and should have
recieved a letter in the mail stating this. This exepmtion however is contingent upong making a payment of $250 before or
on September 1st - this is crucial in order to control numbers because we will need to know how many spaces we have avaliable
at try-out. If you do not get this done and you were exepmted, you will need to try-out.
5. We have posted training groups for those who do not need to tryout on the try-out page. Please look for your training
group.
6. We have posted a practice schedule (of course subject to change along the way) so you can start planning.
