Returning to the Montclair YMCA is Paulo Madeira. He was a member of Montclair State University swim team for 4 years, held 200 yard Breaststroke school record. Competed
with Montclair YMCA and coached at the Montclair for 10 years. Coached for 4 years at North Jersey Bluestreaks..Introduced
USS meets to swimmers and parents, 3 JO winners, and 7 Zone qualifiers. In only 2 years the team was JCC Swim League champion
and went undefeated for the whole season during their JCC league dual meets. The team was ranked 22nd during the Short
Course season, and 16th in the Long Course season in New Jersey.
Kenny Platt has been at the Montclair YMCA since 2002. Previously Kenny has coached at West Essex YMCA and at the Berkeley Heights Community
Pool. He has an extensive aquatic background which includes Head Coaching Responsibilities in both competitive swimming and
diving. This past season marked his first year as Head Diving Coach at Montclair State University. During the day Kenny
is an insurance underwriter and roots for his alma mater, Syracuse University.... Go Orange!
Dawn Amodio has been at the Montclair YMCA since 2004.She has participated in every level of competitive swimming, from athlete on the
Montclair Dolphins to Master level. Coaching since college, she bring years of experince to the team as summer program
coach to age group coach for NJ Bluestreaks in the YWHA/USA swimming programs. She looks forward to another exciting year nurturing confidence
and strong skills in our young swimmers!!!
As a former MYM swimmer, Brie Von Rosendahl is excited to join the coaching staff. As a swimmer for Montclair, Brie was on 2 YMCA Short Course National Teams
and 3 YMCA Long Course National Teams. She was a part of the winning 400 Medley Relay at the 2006 LC Nationals (swimming breaststroke).
Brie attended Villanova University
(majored in communications), where she swam all 4 years. There, she placed top 8 at the Big East Conference Championships
many times and achieved an NCAA “B” cut in the 100y breaststroke. Brie also coaches for local high school MDSA
and comes to Montclair with a great deal of knowledge, experience
and love for the sport. She is currently attending graduate school at Montclair
State University to receive
her Masters in Exercise Science and Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Administration and Coaching. She hopes
to some day be a head coach of a swim team and/or an Athletic Director at the high school or college level.
Christopher Hanson, a native of Virginia, has been at the Montclcair YMCA 2009. His past swimming
credits include thirteen years with the Hollin Hills Bluefish of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL), four years training
with Curl Burke Swim Club (CUBU), earning his varsity letter for swimming all four years attending Bishop Ireton HS in Alexandria,
Va. and serving as its co-captain in his fourth year, earning his varsity letter in swimming for Susquehanna University in
1994. Chris served as an assistant coach to his beloved Bluefish for two years
and has taught swimming privately for children and adults.
Paul Stratis Montclair coach since 2005... Swam for Watchung Hills Regional High School and Div II power Clarion University...Has been
coaching swimming for 17 years, 15 in the YMCA's... Started at Morris Center YMCA as Assistant Age Group Coach and Dryland
Coordinator... At Madison YMCA for 3 years as Head Assistant Coach under Jon... Seniors Coach for 3 years at West Essex
YMCA... Was Head Coach of HS Watchung Hills Regional H.S. Boys and Girls team for 2 years and Head Coach
of Chatham H.S. for 3 years... In the summer time he volunteers at Berkeley Swim Club where he was Head Coach for
3 years... Is YMCA and USS Certified and is getting certified as a level 3 ASCA Coach.
Lauren Sharkey Volunteer Coach - has been at the Montclair YMCA since 2005. She is currently the Aquatic Director at the Montclair YMCA
Family Center. Previous to coaching at Montclair, she coached two years with the Metuchen-Edison YMCA, where she also swam
for 11 years. Sharkey attended Springfield College, where she swam all 4 years. She also works in many different departments
within the YMCA including family center and Camp at the Lake. Sharkey is looking forward to another great season.
