medalist in the 4x100m relay. In the 2004 Olympic trials she competed in both
the 100m and 200m breast, placing second in the 100m, qualifying her for the
Olympic Games alongside her sister, Dana, making the them the first pair of
sisters to qualify for the same U.S. Olympic swim team. Currently the world
record holder in the 100 breast, she has never lost a collegiate breaststroke
race. In her 2003-2004 season, Kirk won the Honda Award as the nation’s Most
Outstanding Collegiate Woman Athlete for swimming and diving. At the 2004 NCAA
championships she was named NCAA Swimmer of the Year and picked up her final
two NCAA titles by sweeping the 100m and 200m breast. In her 2002-2003 season at
Stanford she swept the 100m and 200m breast at the NCAA Championships. Kirk
also earned two All-America honors by swimming the breatstroke leg on the
Stanford's second-place 200m and fourth-place 400m medley relay squads, both
completing season best times. In Kirk's sophomore year she won four NCAA titles
and swam the breatstroke leg on Stanford's American record-setting 200m and
400m medley relay teams at the NCAA championships. As a freshman Kirk won three
NCAA titles and earned four All-America honors at her first NCAA championships.
