Wrap Up News
Welcome to the 2004-2005 Montclair YMCA Dolphins Swim Season. We especially want to welcome all new swimmers into our family as we are all looking forward to a most fun and exciting year.
The Coaches are very excited and have been busy trying to coordinate schedules (pool schedule, meet schedules, social calendar etc…). Thank you all for being patient through the first few weeks as we organize the team for the new season. We have been moving swimmers up and down to maximize our training group efficiency. At this time we are getting to know the athletes and we are almost settled, but we still need a few more weeks to continue evaluating the groups.
A FEW REMINDERS:
As the season develops we are going to use the website almost exclusively with occasional memos (like this one.) We are finding the website communication system to be much more efficient and timely so please make sure you are checking frequently.
If you do not have web access, you will need to check in with BG so he can assign you a “communications buddy.”
If you have not already, please e-mail both Jon at jpsiegelnj@aol.com and BG at b.greene@montclairymca.org . We both need your e-mail addresses for different reasons.
Please contact Mary Ann Cornett at msswimy@yahoo.com or at 973-779-5678 if you are interested in becoming a YMCA or USA Official. MYPO is hosting a clinic at our facility on October 17th – please see our team website for sign up info and call Mary Ann to reserve your spot. Also on our website are some other dates if you can not attend our home clinic.
Please see team handbook in regard to practice observation. For the training groups Jr 2 (small pool), Junior 1 and Seniors (large pool 7-9) – we ask that parents only observe on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can check your family file the 1st 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes only.
Please note that as of 10/4 the practice
schedule has changed a little and we have added dry-land for the Junior 2, Junior 1 and Senior Groups.
ADDENDUM TO HANDBOOK:
Parents of Jr 2, Jr 1 and Seniors are not to observe practice Monday through Thursday but are welcome to observe from the observation deck on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Parents are asked not to come on the pool deck while practice is in progress unless invited by a coach. “Coaching” by parents from the balcony will not be tolerated.
- Parents of Jr 1 and Seniors are permitted to check bulletin boards and family folders which are located on the pool balcony the first and last five minutes of each practice.
- Parents of Novice, Intro and Junior Prep are invited to watch practices daily.
IMPORTANT DATES: 1st Payment due was already due. Our first batch of USA Swimming registrations are going out on 10/1 and you will not be included in that if you have not made first payment or made other arrangements through the Y Scholarship program or special arrangements with BG. Also, we will be putting together our team rosters the afternoon of the red/black meet. If you have not been registered by then you will not be a part of a YMCA dual meet team.

Bowling Party – Sunday 10/3rd – See handout in family file, or on website.
Team Red and Black Scrimmage/ will take place on October 10th in the am. Please check the website for more details and specifics. www.montclairymcaswimming.com There is a page dedicated to it linked from the meet section. General Parents Meeting is set for Wednesday 10/13 at the Y at 7:15 PM. This meeting will run to about 9:00 PM.
